Intensive course for research managers
An increasing number of non-Scandinavian research managers are working in the Scandinavian countries. This very intensive course addresses the principles of research management and leadership as well as the challenges met by international research managers working in Scandinavian research institutions.
You can download the 2023 brochure above. A similar programme is offered in Danish (9 days) for Scandinavian-speaking research managers.
WHY CHOOSE THIS COURSE?
This course will give participants insights into practical and theoretical aspects on research management and organisation.
Research managers today navigate an increasingly complex context. They face diverse challenges such as organisational changes, increasing demands for scientific production and impact, funding issues, mergers, cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural collaborations, building research environments, strategic processes, diversity issues etc. etc. This requires a new level of professionalism from research managers and for the international research manager – who may be faced with language barriers and cultural differences as well – this is even more pressing.
Many research managers are leading groups of fellow international researchers which requires multi-cultural management skills. This course will increase your cross-cultural awareness and competence to lead multi-cultural research teams in a Scandinavian context.
Most research institutions are busy work places leaving only limited time for the research managers to build social networks. This course will expand your network. These are only a few of the topics addressed on the International Research Management Course.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
The course is specifically designed for non-Scandinavian speaking research managers working in Scandinavian research institutions (universities, university colleges, hospitals, etc. both public and private).
The course is aimed at younger researchers with emerging leadership responsibilities, PostDocs, P.I.’s etc., as well as active research managers who are either staff responsible or responsible for a research activity (a large project, a team, a center, etc.).
Participant profiles: Post Docs, P. I.’s, Senior Researchers, Research Leaders, Directors of Research, Professors, Ass. Professors, Ass. Research Professors, Staff Scientists, Deputy Deans, Chief Consultants, etc.
