Himalaya Executive Leadership Program article 3 May 2013 in Børsen

Setting:

The objective of the Himalaya Executive Leadership Program (HELP) is to take capable and
accomplished leaders to the ultimate level of their personal leadership. This program takes
place in the Himalayas, 11 days in May 2014. 24 senior executives have the potential to be selected for the high altitude leadership training program. They will trek to the base camp of unspoiled Kangchenjunga (top 8.5 km) led by a mountaineering pioneer, first two-times Everest
climber and former head of the Indian Special Forces Mountaineering Training centre. Teams of executives will be coached by leading Scandinavian business psychologists and facilitators as they ascend, while a leading Indian spiritual leader will provide inspiration, all for the ultimate personal development as a business leader.

Motivation:

We assume these leaders already master their professional disciplines, commercial  competences and leadership toolbox. They are already experienced. The HELP philosophy is that you cannot reach the next level of leadership by getting further skills, toolboxes or traditional
competences. HELP’s objective is to take these accomplished leaders to the next level of personal
growth, grounding them in their inner strength while they transform themselves into extraordinary leaders. We want to take them from their current level of professional proficiency, to a level of awareness of their inner strength, wisdom and potential.

This program focuses on profound:

  1. self-awareness
  2. social-awareness
  3. value-awareness

These are the building blocks for inner strength, integrity, and followership.

To be able to go further, you have to go deeper. It is this building of internal strength that will lead to external accomplishment on the next level for the individual, their
team, and organization.

Key benefits for you and your organization:

  • Increase your self-awareness. Increasing your self-awareness is the overall  objective of HELP: You will gain a deeper understanding of what drives you and how you come across. The outcome will be a stronger sense of self and inner wisdom. This will increase your authenticity, presence and credibility as a leader. You will also gain a greater sense of through which lens you view the world – increasing your ability to decode your surroundings clearly and reinforcing your social-awareness.
  • Reinforce your social awareness and ability to build high performance teams: You will strengthen your awareness of others and ability to detect what drives them, and deepen your understanding of what it takes to build and sustain a high performance team.
  • Revisit your values, and broaden your wisdom: You will broaden and deepen your leadership values building your integrity further. You will build on the ability to remain mentally calm during challenge, to be grounded and present, and overall increase mental strength. Values that you can install in your organization and team upon return.
  • Building strong network: You will build a network for life via joint accomplishment and the strongest of collective experiences. CBS Executive will invite you to become a member of an exclusive HELP network group of executives with a common experience and frame of reference.

Participant profile:

  1. You are a senior and proven executive
  2. You have the desire to push your personal development as a leader further
  3. You have to be physically fit in advance of program start. Benchmark: Be able to run twice a week for an hour prior to program start and take long walks of 2-3 hours with a 7 kg backpack. Running can be substituted by long walks.

Admission subject to profile fit. It is up to the individual participant to ensure physical fitness. (Physical fitness is no guarantee against potential (but not likely) altitude sickness. As safety is priority, program management will ultimately decide on sending a participant to lower height in a such case).

Core input from:

  • Mountaineering pioneer and first two times Everest climber and former Head
of Indian Mountaineering Special Forces Training Centre
  • Renowned spiritual leaders from the foremost spiritual centres of India for inspirational wisdom, reflective scene setting, and as catalysts for profound individual personal development
  • Leading Scandinavian business psychologists/facilitators for facilitation, support, and individual as well as sub-group coaching
  • Head of Department Medical Doctor National Hospital (Overlæge Rigshospitalet) Thomas Kistorp (former Danish national team volleyball player)
  • Research Director HELP and Associate Professor Sudhanshu Rai for crystallization of collective experience and individual interpretation of input
